Plot: Steve is in jail because he was caught doing a crime with James King which was robbing a store. He goes to court and mostly everything proves him innocent. He says he wasn't there when the crime happened. Then he is proven innocent. He was proven innocent by the crowd and the judge. Steve packs his things and goes home. He finally lives a normal life again.
Theme: The theme in Monster was to never give up. It was to never give up because in order for Steve wanting to go home, he had to keep trying with Mrs. O'Brien and keep finding ways to make him seem like the good guy.
Characterization: In Monster Steve was the main character or the protagonist because he was involved in the whole thing. The whole case was about him. The antagonist was King's lawyer because he was going against him and not with him.
Setting: The book takes place in the Manhattan Detention Center and the court room.
Conflict: The conflict is that Steve is in jail and he is trying to get out. The conflict is that him and his friends killed Mr. Nesbitt. So now he is trying to go home. The conflict is character vs. character.
Point of View: The point of view is first person and third person limited because you really only know the feelings of Steve. But a couple times you know the feelings of his mom.
Flashback: Steve has many flashbacks in the story. One time he uses a flashback is when he has a memory of when his brother Jerry told him if he was a super hero, he would be Steve. And Steve is now thinking about that because he is no longer a hero since he is in jail. And now Steve felt that he is a MONSTER, he let his brother down.

                            Synopsis 2: The War of the Worlds

Plot: The aliens have came and started invading Earth. The main character is trying to survive and get away from the aliens. He is also trying to find his wife again. He is out of sight of the aliens and goes to his house. He finds the aliens are dead because they couldn't fight off the bacteria. He finds his wife and lives happliy ever after.
Theme: The theme in the book is survival. The theme is survival because in the book everyone is trying to survive. The theme could also be war because the humans and aliens are at war and they are fighting.
Characterization: The narrator is the protagonist and he is trying to find his wife again. He is very smart because he knew what to do in situations at the right time. But he is also very cowardly because most of the time he was scared and listening to other people because he was scared. The antagonists are the aliens because they are trying to kill everyone. They are very mean because they are trying to kill the humans.
Setting: This book takes place in many cities in London such as Woking. But one very important setting was at the common because that is where most of the aliens landed and that is where a lot of exciting things happened.
Conflict: The conflict is that the aliens are trying to invade and kill all of Earth and human beings. Also the main character is trying to find his wife. The conflict is character vs. society because the narrator is trying to survive from the big group of aliens.
Point of View: The point of view is third person limited because you know the feelings of the narrator and usually only one other person like the curate or his wife.
Flashback: When tha narrator went back to his house and saw the notes he was writing. He thought back to that day and thought about the shooting star that was flying in the sky and landing in Woking. Then the next day everyone started talking about it.
